DARCY J. MERTZ KREWSON,
Principal/Founder
With a degree in Interior Architecture, a business minor, and experience that is more architectural in nature, Darcy Mertz Krewson is not your typical interior designer. Not only was her first word “Lamp,” (yes, really- her mother said so) but she literally grew-up in a furniture store! Space design and interiors are in her blood. At a young age she started moving furniture around her parent’s store setting up the various room displays to create attractive home-like settings and showcase the latest trends.
As an expert space designer and planner for more than 20 years, Darcy has worked on a vast array of projects. From major grocery and drug stores to kitchen and bath remodels, retail meal assembly stores, casual dining and even rooftop and stealth wireless telecommunication sites. She is an avid preservationist and self-proclaimed old building “nut.” Historic Preservation and the Repurposing of Antique Buildings (also known as Adaptive Reuse) are both very close to her heart. Whether you want to design an appropriate kitchen for your one-of-a-kind antique home, convert an old factory into condos or retail spaces, or if you simply need some advice on which paint colors are suitable for a historic building, Darcy is here to help with design expertise and a love of all things historic.
Darcy is a Life member of the Retail Design Institute, earned certifications in aging-in-place and Living By Design specializations, and served as chairperson of the Design Review Board of a historic district for several years. When not creating spaces, Darcy is an artist specializing in watercolor paintings. Her work often reflects the respect and admiration she has for historic buildings.
