Main Bathroom Remodel – 1893 Home

Salt Lake City, Utah

Design Challenge:

Reconfigure the main bathroom to create a large and more functional space in a style that is appropriate for this historic home. The remodel needed to include the original claw-foot tub but with added showering abilities. The original space was quite tight so it was decided to incorporate an adjoining small awkward closet area into the remodel. By opening up the wall between the two spaces, the bathroom could be enlarged but without significant alterations to the original – unaltered – footprint of this National Register of Historic Places listed home. Maintaining historic integrity was of great importance in the design.
